Black Spiders Lesson 2

Black Spiders Lesson #5

All children have the ability to develop musical talent, and the early years are the perfect time to introduce meaningful musical experiences because a toddler’s brain is uniquely equipped for learning and building neural connections. You are fostering musical brain development when you actively participate in class and listen and interact to the music at home.

The bell set used in our Sound Beginnings class is pitched to create a C major scale. In western music, the major scale is used to develop the melodic structure in a piece of music, and we will use these bells to help us sing and explore this very important scale. Because all major scales are built using the same pattern, children who internalize the sound of the scale we sing in class can easily transfer this understanding to other scales.

Optional home fun activity: Color the bells on page 9 of your workbook
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
